Texas Football is set to lose an important member of the staff. Director of Scouting Errin Joe will leave the Longhorns to become the new General Manager at the University of North Texas, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
New Mean Green head coach Neal Brown has tabbed Joe to be his new GM in Denton. Before Texas, Joe was general manager at Georgia Tech. He also spent time at Alabama.
Brown also spent some time on Steve Sarkisian's staff as an analyst after he was fired at West Virginia. So there is some prior history together on the 40 Acres.
Joe was hired at Texas at the beginning of 2025 and has been instrumental in putting together Texas Top 10 recruiting class and signing players from the transfer portal.
No doubt, with a coaching change, there will be roster upheaval at UNT. Joe will be tasked with finding some prospects in the transfer portal to help the Mean Green return to the American Conference Championship game next season. UNT lost in the title game to Tulane 34-21 last week. He will also be instrumental in North Texas recruiting.
