As the college football season quickly approaches, Texas football star Trevor Goosby‘s status is unclear.
The returning first-team All-SEC offensive tackle suffered a bone bruise in his left knee during yesterday’s practice, according to ESPN, and it is unknown when he will return. As a result, ESPN NFL draft analyst Jordan Reid thinks that it might be a good time to learn more about the other side of the Longhorns’ O-line.
“With the timeline for Texas OT Trevor Goosby uncertain, Melvin Siani is a name to become familiar with. Many scouts are already eyeing the 6-6, 317-pound transfer from Wake Forest,” Reid posted on X, formerly Twitter.

“Siani allowed zero sacks and the 4th lowest pressure rate (1.3%) among starting OTs in the FBS last season. Already circled as a prospect that could make a major rise.”
Siani will be a redshirt junior this season after spending last year with Wake Forest and his first two seasons of eligibility with Temple. At Temple, he played 15 games, including double-digit starts. He then started in all 13 games for Wake Forest, where he did not allow a sack in 914 snaps throughout the season.
As for Goosby, the 6-foot-7, 325-pound started every game last year at left tackle for the Longhorns, for which he earned first-team all-conference honors, making him the only player on the Texas offense to do so.
Although it’s possible the ‘Horns could keep Siani at right tackle and otherwise shake up the line, it appears most likely that Siani will flip over to the left side and someone like Brandon Baker or Jordan Coleman replacing Siani at right tackle.
More will assuredly be known in the coming weeks, as Texas finishes up its final preseason practices before hosting Texas State on Sept. 5.
