As the start of the 2026 college football season draws closer by the day, the Texas Longhorns have been busy on the recruiting trail. In the last week of February, they offered one of the best recruits in the 2028 class, Tyzon Swann. While the Maryland native has not set a commitment date, he has been in high demand as programs look to improve their defense.
Currently, the Henry E. Lackey High School star has a lot of offers on the table. That list includes some of the top programs in the country, like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, and Tennessee. The heavy interest comes as no surprise, given how scouts have raved about his play.

The Longhorns' recruiting target is ranked as the fifth-best defensive lineman in his class by 247sports. They also rank him as the best player from Maryland and the 35th-best player in the nation. Those rankings are partly why Texas decided to enter the battle for his services.
While the Longhorns are still looking for their first commitment in the 2028 class, they have been busy connecting with some of the top players available. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have made offers to four-star recruits such as Brysen Wright, R'Monie Edwards, King Pitts, Jalanie George, Dawson Jacobs, and Tahj Gray. That list should continue to grow.

For Texas, the focus now is getting Swann to campus for a visit. That will be key as they are also battling with other teams in the SEC. If Sarkisian can make Swann an offer he can't refuse, the 2028 defense will get a huge boost.
Over the next few months, Swann will be a player to watch as he narrows down his options.
