Texas Football's Arch Manning asks Alabama QB Ty Simpson for tips on beating Georgia

Over the summer at the Manning Passing Academy, Texas quarterback Arch Manning and Alabama Crimson Tide QB Ty Simpson struck up a friendship. That friendship could help the Longhorns get to the college football playoff. Manning and Simpson share intel on common opponents, including the Georgia Bulldogs.

The two reportedly share thoughts on SEC defenses and how to beat common opponents. Simpson has already asked Manning for some tips on beating Oklahoma, to the Crimson Tide face Saturday in Tuscaloosa. The Sooners have the SEC's top-ranked defense.

Manning has been hitting up Simpson for tips on the Georgia Defense. The redshirt sophomore mentioned the debriefing this week to the Austin American-Statesman.

Simpson was asked about the information exchange this week and joked about Manning's "loud mouth."

"Arch has got a loud mouth, huh? No, that's my guy. We talk weekly, not just about ball, but about how each other is doing," Simpson said. "He's a really good friend of mine. I know he played somebody and we'd talked before, then of course, (Manning played in) the Red River Rivalry (against Oklahoma), and it was a good game, so I asked him a couple questions, and he asked me a couple questions about Vanderbilt and Georgia, right? Quarterback etiquette, talking to one another, just hey what did you see, what did you do here. Just about plays and fronts in general, right? Stuff we talk about, not just as friends but as quarterbacks as well."

Alabama is the only team to beat the Bulldogs so far and Simpson was the biggest reason. Simpson accounted for three touchdowns and threw for 276 yards in Alabama's 24-21 win over Georgia.
