Texas Receives Good Injury News Before Georgia Game

The Texas Longhorns are gearing up to face the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.

This marks the third meeting between the two programs since the Longhorns joined the SEC in 2024.

They played in the regular season a year ago in Austin, where Georgia won 30–15. They then met again in the SEC Championship Game, which Georgia also won, 22–19.

Steve Sarkisian’s squad comes in dealing with several injuries.

Defensive back Micahel Taafe suffered a thumb fracture on Oct. 18 against the Kentucky Wildcats. He underwent surgery and missed the last two games against the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Jelani McDonald, also a defensive back, left the game against Vanderbilt with a concussion.

Both players had an extra week to get ready for Georgia with the bye week coming at a good time.

On Wednesday, things trended in the right direction, and it looks like Taafe and McDonald are both expected to play Saturday. They were each back on the practice field.

This season, Taafe has recorded 51 tackles, one sack and one interception.

As for McDonald, he’s recorded 55 tackles, three passes defended and two interceptions.

Kickoff between No. 10 Texas and No. 5 Georgia is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
