The Texas Tech Red Raiders have landed 2028 five-star offensive tackle Austin Attalah, who announced his commitment Tuesday on the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN.
The Red Raiders beat out the USC Trojans and Texas Longhorns for Attalah, who is from Orange, California. Texas Tech offered him a scholarship back in April and got him on campus for a visit in June, allowing them to surge ahead in his recruitment.
Attalah is ranked as the No. 27 overall player and No. 3 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 1 player from California. While he can not sign with Texas Tech for over a year, he is one of the highest-ranked commits in program history.
He is their fifth-ever five-star commit, joining defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, wide receiver Micah Hudson and edge rushers Anthony Sweeney and LaDariun Guyton. All five of them have been recruited by Joey McGuire as the Red Raiders have become one of the best recruiting programs in the country over the past five years.
Attalah is their second commitment in the 2028 recruiting cycle, joining three-star punter Luc Normans, who is the top punter in the country. The duo gives Texas Tech the No. 12 recruiting class in the country and the best in the Big 12, according to 247Sports.
