Texas Tech's opponent finalized for Orange Bowl CFP quarterfinal

After a couple weeks of assuming, the Texas Tech football team finally has a definitive answer to who the Red Raiders will play first in the College Football Playoff.
The fourth-seeded Red Raiders have been off since beating BYU in the Big 12 Conference Championship game on Dec. 6. Now Texas Tech (12-1) can get prepared to take on the Oregon Ducks, who dispatched of 12th-seeded James Madison 51-34 on Saturday in Euguene in the first round of the CFP.
Oregon received the No. 5 overall seed in the CFP field and was the heavy favorite to take down the Dukes. They did just that by scoring a touchdown on its first possession of the game and coasting from there.
Texas Tech and Oregon will square off at 11 a.m. Central on Jan. 1 from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

- Dec. 31: No. 10 Miami vs. No. 2 Ohio State, 6:30 p.m. (Cotton Bowl)
- Jan 1: No. 5 Oregon vs. No. 4 Texas Tech, 11 a.m. (Orange Bowl)
- Jan. 1: No. 9 Alabama vs. No. 1 Indiana, 3 p.m. (Rose Bowl)
- Jan. 1: No. 6 Ole Miss vs. No. 3 Georgia, 7 p.m. (Sugar Bowl)
