With the Alabama football team looking to avoid a disappointing 2026 season, which starts on Sept. 5 against the East Carolina Pirates (ECU), one unit that will be vital is the offensive line. As the Alabama football program prepares for Week 1 against ECU, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb reveals what he wants to see from the offensive line in the upcoming game.
Speaking to the media on Monday, he was asked about the offensive line and what their main goal is, with Grubb immediately answering that he wants to see “physicality and consistency.”
“As far as from that group, just physicality and consistency,” Grubb said, via the university’s X, formerly Twitter, page. “I think that that’s the big thing for those guys being able to show some dominance up front and then just be consistent. I think you’re trying to chase the one-hit wonders with guys in the offensive line world, and that’ll be a problem. So, as long as they can show snap one to snap 85, or whatever the heck it is, that they can play the same way. I think that’s going to be the big challenge for them.”

When it comes to the starting offensive line for the Crimson Tide, Grubb would say the school is “pretty much there,” locking in Jackson Lloyd, Will Sanders, Racin Delgatty, and Michael Carroll. As for the fifth spot, he would mention that Javin James has “been taking the lion’s share,” though it hasn’t been finalized.
At any rate, it remains to be seen how the offensive line looks for the Alabama football program this season, as the first opportunity comes on Saturday against ECU.
