Week Zero of the 2026 college football regular season is in the books.
The first weekend of the 2026 college football regular season featured an impressive win by Bill Belichick’s UNC Tar Heels, a blowout performance in front of a weak crowd by the USC Trojans, an up-and-down showing from the Florida State Seminoles and more.
But which college football programs were the biggest “losers” of the start of the college football season?
College football personality Brandon Walker has named his four biggest “losers” following the Week Zero performance.

- TCU Horned frogs, losing to Bill Belichick’s UNC Tar Heels
- UNLV losing to Memphis, really hurting its playoff hopes
- N.C. State falling to Virginia
- All of the crowds on the West Coast
College football fans react to Week 0 ‘losers’
College football fans are in agreement.
“Don’t schedule a 1:00 game on the west coast when it’s 100 degrees. Play that game at night, UCLA does the same stupid thing,” one fan wrote.
“Next Saturday there will be ten games in Texas and back east that’ll be hot midday games and most of them will be full,” Walker replied.
“Take a look at next week’s schedule: 90% of ranked teams are playing 24–50 point underdogs. Seriously…who’s going to watch?” another fan added.
“North carolina might just have a better defense than tcu’s offense. Time will tell,” one fan added.
“Think you’re seeing in real time how much the admissions process at schools like USC and Stanford has changed in a relatively short period of time and, as a result, the type of student being admitted. That’s my best guess. Smart sports kids go elsewhere now,” one fan added.
