Five players are listed as out for the Texas Tech football team’s final home game on the schedule Saturday against UCF.
Each of the five players listed as out on the initial Big 12 Conference-mandated availability report, released Wednesday night, were also out for the Red Raiders’ win over BYU last week. This list includes defensive lineman Skyler Gill-Howard; receivers T.J. West, Leyton Stone and Roy Alexander; and offensive lineman Hunter Zambrano.
Alexander and Zambrano, part of Texas Tech’s touted transfer portal class, have each only appeared in three games this season. Alexander played in the first three games while Zambrano appeared in three of the first four.
Head coach Joey McGuire said earlier this week the Red Raiders will try to earn a medical hardship waiver for Zambrano, a sixth-year senior who transferred from Illinois State, to return next season. Zambrano appeared in two games last year before suffering a season-ending injury. Alexander is a fifth-year senior who spent his first four campaigns at the FCS level.
Senior defensive stalwarts Lee Hunter and Jacob Rodriguez are both listed as questionable. Quarterback Behren Morton and linebacker John Curry are listed as probable.
