Lane Kiffin and the LSU TIgers are actively trying to flip a five-star commit from the Texas Longhorns. Kiffin and the Tigers have been working hard since December to make the flip happen.

Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are actively trying to flip five-star wide receiver Easton Royal from the Texas Longhorns.

Royal has been committed to the Longhorns since November. He says he’s “solid” in his commitment to Texas, but he’s continued to take visits to other programs during his recruitment.

Easton Royal drops strong quote about LSU after visit to Baton Rouge

Royal was recently at LSU for a visit and he told On3 that the Tigers are closing the gap after hiring Kiffin late last year.

The Texas commit also said he’s never seen anything like what he saw in meetings at LSU during spring practice.

“They’ve made a big leap and are continuing to close the gap the old staff left,” said Royal. “The highlights of the spring were sitting in the meetings with them and seeing how they are maniacs of the game of football. Seeing the things they’ve done, and the way they use things are psycho. … I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Royal, 5-foot-11/200 pounds from New Orleans, LA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 8 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

The Tennessee Vols are also trying to flip Royal from the Longhorns.

But it’s likely LSU, the hometown program, that’s best positioned to ultimately flip Royal.

You never know what will happen in recruiting, but I’d almost be shocked if LSU doesn’t flip Royal from Texas at some point over the next few months.

Royal will return to Baton Rouge for an official visit on May 29.
