Three Eagles named to Class A All-State football team

Line Mountain seniors Kaiden Maurer, Dalton Schadel and Bryce Smeltz all earned all-state honors from the Pennsylvania Sports Writers on Tuesday morning.
The football writers are releasing three all-state teams on Tuesday and three more on Wednesday. The Class A, 3A and 5A teams are due Tuesday. The rest will be announced on Wednesday.
Maurer, Schadel and Smeltz all earned honors in Class A after helping lead the Eagles to a 12-1 mark and the program's first District 4 title in more than two decades.
Maurer leaves the programs as the school’s all-time leading passer. Threw for 2,224 yards with 34 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. 87 touchdown passes and 6,009 career yards. He also finished with 40 tackles.
Schadel finished with 51 catches for 959 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. Will graduate as the school’s all-time leading receiver with 1,999 yards receiving and 28 touchdowns.
Smeltz caught 28 passes for 545 yards, averaging a team-best 19.5 yard a grab. He had nine touchdown catches. On defense, Smeltz had 51 tackles, including 14 for loss and 3.5 sacks.
