The pre-draft process is full of hurdles to pass, but also opportunities for players to give NFL scouts a great view of who they really are. Three former LSU Tigers stars are going to get a major chance this week at the 2026 Panini Senior Bowl.
The Senior Bowl has been one of the most respected and important "All-Star" games that college players get to go through before the NFL combine. For a week, the entire football world gathers in Mobile, Ala., to watch football practice.
Just as important as practice is that every player who attends now gets the opportunity to speak to every NFL team.
Here are the three former Tigers who will be competing in Mobile this year:
QB Garrett Nussmeier
This has a chance to be a life-changing week for Nussmeier, who is coming off one of the most disappointing seasons in recent LSU memory.
After waiting for his turn to take the reins in a Tigers uniform, and an excellent first full starting season in 2024, it was supposed to be a storybook ending for Nussmeier.
Instead, a preseason injury derailed everything as the quarterback struggled all season long and eventually got benched.
He was known for his cannon of an arm, but could barely push the ball down the field. Everyone knew that this wasn't the quarterback that Nussmeier really was, but since he was playing, it reflected poorly on him.
The senior entered the year with Heisman hopes and first-round expectations, but that has all since crumbled.
The Senior Bowl could change everything, though. He has had a lot of time to heal. If he can come out and compete in front of these NFL coaches at the level that is expected of him and do well in interviews, he could still be one of the first quarterbacks taken in a very weak class.
WR Barion Brown
Brown's lightning-fast speed is built for a showcase like this. He'll have time to put up big numbers at the combine, but now is his chance to line up against cornerbacks and showcase his separation skills.
With Nussmeier's injury, LSU wasn't really able to take advantage of Brown's downfield ability. His average depth of target was decimated, but he did get the chance to show that he can be a consistent target. He was the Tigers' leading receiver both in catches and in yards.
WR Aaron Anderson
Anderson is another player who was hit hard by the offensive inefficiency. He had 61 catches for 884 yards and five touchdowns in 2024, becoming the go-to threat for Nussmeier out of the slot.
Injuries and the overall weakness of the offense led to him getting just 33 catches for 398 yards and zero scores this season.
The 5-foot-8 receiver is shifty and can create separation, though. He will be someone to watch when the practices get to the popular 1-on-1 segments.
