The SEC is entering a new era in 2026.

With the conference moving to a nine-game SEC schedule, there are fewer easy Saturdays and even more opportunities for chaos.

Here are three hot takes I believe could actually happen.

LSU Goes 10-2 and Makes the SEC Championship

Lane Kiffin isn’t going to need a rebuilding year in Baton Rouge.

I’m predicting LSU finishes 10-2 and reaches the SEC Championship Game in Kiffin’s first season.

The Tigers have Sam Leavitt at quarterback and a roster rebuilt heavily through the transfer portal. The schedule is brutal, but LSU has enough talent to survive it.

One of those two losses, however, comes somewhere LSU fans won’t enjoy.

Auburn Wins Eight Games and Upsets LSU

I’m buying an Auburn resurgence.

The Tigers have struggled to become relevant nationally again, but I’m predicting an 8-win season in 2026.

And the signature victory?

LSU at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

LSU might be the better team overall, but Jordan-Hare has a reputation for producing absolute chaos. Auburn hands Kiffin one of his two regular-season losses, but LSU recovers and still reaches Atlanta at 10-2.

For Auburn, eight wins and a victory over an SEC Championship participant would finally feel like legitimate progress.

Three SEC Teams Finish 0-9

Here’s where things get ridiculous.

Not one. Not two.

Three SEC teams go winless in conference play.

I’m predicting Arkansas, Mississippi State and Kentucky all finish 0-9 in the SEC.

That’s a combined 0-27 conference record.

With nine SEC games now on the schedule, the bottom of the league could get punished more than ever. The gap between the contenders and rebuilding programs is enormous, and I don’t see enough obvious conference wins on these three schedules.

Would three teams going 0-9 be crazy? Absolutely.

That’s why it’s a hot take.

LSU goes 10-2 and reaches Atlanta. Auburn wins eight and shocks LSU. Arkansas, Mississippi State and Kentucky combine to go 0-27 in SEC play.

If even two of these happen, the 2026 SEC season is going to be wild.
