Auburn football grew its Maryland recruiting pipeline on Wednesday by adding a three-star safety from Hyattsville to its 2027 class.
Knyair Crumb announced his commitment to Auburn on Wednesday during a special live stream on CBS Sports’ YouTube channel, choosing the Tigers over Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Penn State.
Forecasts favored Auburn landing the DeMatha Catholic product before his announcement, with two 247Sports experts submitting “crystal ball” predictions and Chad Simmons of Rivals following suit by submitting one himself.
Auburn became the favorite by winning Crumb over during his official visit in May. He told Rivals’ Jeffrey Lee that Auburn safeties coach Tim Banks painted an accurate picture of what Auburn was, providing a “mind-opening” experience.
Crumb is the 19th player to commit to Auburn’s 2027 class, and the second from Maryland, joining four-star EDGE rusher Rion Jackson from Annapolis. Auburn has built a strong pipeline to Maryland over recent years as six members of Auburn’s 2026 roster hail from the state.
Crumb is a 6-0, 200-pound safety from DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland, and ranks No. 67 at his position according to 247Sports.
