The Texas Tech football team continues to hit the 2027 recruiting class hard and landed its first major win on the offensive side of the ball.

Quarterback Kavian Bryant announced his commitment to the Red Raiders on Saturday while the team was playing against Kansas State. The Palestine, TX native chose Texas Tech over his other finalists, which included Florida State, SMU, Texas, and Colorado.

Rated a composite five-star recruit at 247Sports, Bryant is listed as a 6-foot-2½, 180-pounder who ranks as the No. 3 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class with a 0.9862 composite score.

Prior to this week’s action, Bryant (who has missed the last two games with a leg injury) accumulated 1,272 yards and 14 touchdowns on 78-of-112 passing with zero interceptions, adding 332 yards and two scores on the ground through four games.

As a sophomore, Bryant threw for 2,442 yards with 34 TDs and three picks while rushing for another 709 yards and 11 scores. He became the starting quarterback for Westwood High as a freshman, finishing with 2,282 yards, 33 TDs, and 7 interceptions in his first varsity season.

Bryant’s father, Kadrian, played basketball at Mississippi Valley State from 2005-07, where he averaged 7.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in two seasons after starting his basketball career at Panola College.

Bryant is technically the fifth top-flight 2027 recruit to commit to Texas Tech, though EDGE rusher LaDamion Guyton is reportedly set to reclassify and join the Red Raiders’ 2027 class. Other 2027 recruits include Cedar Hill defensive lineman Jalen Brewster (ranked the No. 17 prospect in the country and top defensive lineman), and three-star defensive linemen K’Adrian Redmond (DeSoto) and Antonio Underwood (Houston Westerfield).
