Top Alabama Recruiting Target Makes Stunning Decision Ahead of Visits

A top Alabama target just made a decision that you rarely see out of recruits.

Five-star offensive lineman Ismael Camara, who had Official Visits lined up this summer for Texas A&M, LSU, Texas and Oregon announced on X that he will no longer be attending those visits.

For a high school prospect, it’s a strange decision, but it sends a message that Camara already knows where he wants to be.

Could it be that Alabama is that destination? 

It certainly puts the Tide in a tremendous position to lock up one of their key targets.

Andrew Bone of BamaOnline reported that the Crimson Tide has put in a significant amount of work to lure Camara to Tuscaloosa.

The admiration for Bama has always been there for Camara too.

“I have said it over and over, Bama is Bama,” Camara said. “In my lifetime, no college football program has been more dominant, produced more NFL top-tier talent, and won more National Championships. It’s not that I am saying something that is my opinion; those are just facts. That is what I mean when I say Bama is Bama.”

But what has piqued his interest is his relationship with new offensive line coach Adrian Klemm, who Kalen DeBoer hired this offseason.

"Coach Klemm started coaching at SMU and he knows Gilmer [Camara’s high school] very well, because he recruited some of my Buckeye big brothers," he said. "I respect him so much because he has been where I want to go. When guys with Super Bowl rings are teaching, I want to be learning and AK has so much knowledge of the game. He has forgotten more than I know about being an elite offensive lineman. 

“So for me, he has walked the path I want to follow. He is so precise in what he tells his players on the field and in the meeting room. And every word he says is gold. Players know what he is saying and communicating to us, and we know he is right and it will just make us better. That is what it is about for Coach Klemm”

What happens next is anyone’s guess. However, Camara was previously predicted by Rivas’ recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman to land at either Oregon or Texas.

Now the question becomes whether Alabama has already done enough to close the deal.
