Top Big 12 football games to watch for Week 4 of 2026 season

Week 3 featured a fun slate of games in the Big 12, and Week 4 is no different, with many teams playing their first conference games of the season, including Colorado and Baylor and West Virginia and Oklahoma State, the matchup of the week for the Big 12.

Best Game of the Week: West Virginia vs. Oklahoma State

This is not a game that was on anyone's radar going into the season. However, the Mountaineers enter undefeated, while the Cowboys are on a two-game winning streak after defeating Oregon in Week 2 and shutting out Murray State in Week 3. These teams have very different offenses, with Oklahoma State relying on the passing attack, led by quarterback Drew Mestemaker, who already has 882 passing yards and eight touchdowns through three games. West Virginia, by contrast, relies on its run game, with two players with over 300 rushing yards and at least three touchdowns, including their quarterback, who has 477 passing yards, 322 rushing yards, five passing touchdowns, and six rushing touchdowns. This should be a high-scoring affair and come down to the wire.

Big 12 Upset to Watch

Potential upset: Cincinnati vs. Kansas State

Kansas State comes into this game as the favorites over Cincinnati despite both teams being undefeated through the first three weeks of the season. The Wildcats have the better quarterback in Avery Johnson. However, they rely on him a lot, and it has been a problem in the past. When opposing defenses shut down Johnson, they shut down the Wildcats' offense. However, Cincinnati has a more balanced attack and the home crowd on their side. Do not be surprised if the Bearcats leave this game 4-0 instead of Kansas State.

Other Big 12 action

An honorable mention for the Big 12 game of the week is TCU versus UCF. Both teams come into their conference opener with a 2-1 record. TCU looked terrible in Ireland but has rebounded to win the past two games. Meanwhile, UCF looked flat against Pittsburgh in their first game against a Power Four team this season. This could be another game that comes down to the wire.

Colorado will also be looking to rebound against Baylor after their 41-7 blowout loss to Northwestern in their first loss of the season. No. 15 Utah faces Iowa State, which has shown real competitiveness all season, making this another interesting game to watch. No. 11 Texas Tech and No. 25 Houston are taking on non-Power Four teams and are expected to win big. Arizona is also looking to reach 3-1 in their game against Washington State, which currently has a 1-2 record.

There are three Big 12 teams on a bye week this week: No. 9 BYU, Arizona State, and Kansas. The Sun Devils just defeated the Jayhawks in the first college game in London since 1988.
