Quarterback Elijah Haven, out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has emerged as one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2027 recruiting class.
He put together an impressive junior season at Dunham High School, completing 240-of-332 passes for 3,931 yards, 62 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 142.5 passer rating. He also rushed for 794 yards and 11 touchdowns on 127 carries.
Standing at 6-foot-4.5 and weighing 220 pounds, Haven is a five-star recruit, the No. 1 quarterback and the No. 14 player in the nation, per Rivals Industry Rankings.
The Alabama Crimson Tide have been heavily connected to the quarterback. Haven has already taken five unofficial visits to Tuscaloosa, which has been the most of any program. In October, Rivals’ vice president of recruiting logged an expert predictor for Alabama to land him.
In a video posted to the “Rivals” YouTube channel, Adam Gorney shared an update on where the Crimson Tide currently stands. Along with landing his commitment taking longer than expected, Haven has been linked to three other top programs.
“He was supposed to be off the board months ago, and you know I’m sure Alabama wanted to close that one out, but he keeps pushing that back… Alabama still looks very, very strong, but I don’t count out Auburn, Florida and Georgia,” Gorney said.
It’s a high-powered battle, with the four teams still firmly in the mix. Of that group, the Bulldogs are the only school he’s yet to visit. Haven has logged three unofficial visits with the Tigers and two with the Gators.
While Alabama appears to still be in the lead, Haven holding off his decision with other SEC teams continuing to make a push is worrying for Kalen DeBoer and his staff.
