The University of Connecticut football team will meet the media on Thursday morning in Storrs, Conn. for the program's official Media Day.

Because UConn is not in an official conference, there is no league-sanctioned Media Day. The Huskies hold everything in-house.

As head coach Jason Candle prepares for his first Media Day with the program, here are the top five questions we want to hear answered at the podiums:

How is the roster gelling together so far? 

As noted by ESPN back in May, UConn brought in 56 transfers this year, 19 of which played for Candle at Toledo.

That's a lot of moving parts, and while that's kind of par for the course in modern college football, it doesn't mean there aren't real questions about team chemistry and how everyone is fitting together.

Training camp hasn't officially started yet, so we'll get a better idea of how things are progressing in two weeks or so, but Candle's group has already spent a lot of time together through offseason workouts, so there should be a gauge on how the team-building process is going.

The last thing anyone wants? Some kind of clique structure, where the old-Toledo guys are against the holdovers. How is the process of breaking down those walls going?

Who has the lead in the quarterback room?

The strength of a football team lies in its ability – and stability – at the quarterback position. The Huskies had that the last two years in Joe Fagnano, who had transferred in from FCS Maine. The signal caller really elevated his game in 2025, throwing for 287.3 yards per game and 28 touchdowns against just one interception. He earned an opportunity with the Baltimore Ravens after this year's NFL Draft

This year, Jake Merklinger, a transfer from Tennessee, figures to have the lead, but that's not a guarantee at this point. Kalieb Osborne transferred in from Toledo, where he played for Candle, making him a possibility as well.

How will the offense operate?

With Fagnano, Skyler Bell and Joe Fagnano, the Huskies had a dynamic three-headed monster last season. All three are now gone.

Will this be a team that entrusts the quarterback and receiver room to make plays down the field? Or will the team be running back-driven, given that's where it appears the strength of the group lies?

The Huskies open up the regular season on Sept. 5 against Lafayette.
