Transfer QB Alonza Barnett III Looking to Return to CFP at UCF

The vibes and morale around UCF football heading into next season are high, as head coach Scott Frost and various players have set lofty expectations for this year's squad.
Alonza Barnett III, former James Madison standout, has led the charge as the Knights' leader in the locker room, as Frost and other members of the coaching staff have applauded their new signal caller's intangibles.
On Wednesday, Barnett joined UCFast Cast Live on YouTube to talk about the looming season, where he recounted his experience at the College Football Playoff with the Dukes.
"That's addicting bro," Barnett said about the opportunity. "It was crazy. Growing up, playing video games against Oregon, like De'Anthony Thomas, all the different flashy uniforms and all that stuff. It was loud from the first quarter through the fourth. Nobody left."
Barnett went on to talk about the festivities that came with the experience, including a duck, Oregon's mascot, riding on a motorcycle out of the tunnel.
Its safe to say that the bright lights did not faze Barnett, however, as he accounted for three total touchdowns while throwing for 273 yards passing and recording 45 yards rushing.
James Madison scored 34 points as a team, which is impressive considering the same Oregon defense blanked the Big 12 Champion Texas Tech Red Raiders in the following round.
He called the feeling of playing in the game "addicting," while saying that the Knights "gotta experience that this year."
For Barnett, he has frequently talked about being a leader the team can depend on and making the most of his final year.
"I look forward to enjoying each and every game as it’s my last collegiate season…" Barnett said at a recent meet-and-greet. "Fans can expect a great brand of football, some fireworks here and there and some really consistent play."
Barnett's dual-threat ability is a perfect fit in Frost's offensive scheme, as he can extend plays and move the chains with his legs.
While Tayven Jackson, last year's starter, had a semblance of mobility, Barnett is a high-level runner for his position.
Having lofty goals like Barnett does is a good sign, as the gunslinger has echoed his teammates' vision of winning the conference and competing for a spot in the College Football Palyoff.
The quarterback position has never been more valuable in today's landscape of college football, and the Knights have seemingly found their guy.
Since Barnett arrived in Orlando, he has been the clear starter, which is something that UCF hadn't had the luxury of having over the past few years.
