Tre Richardson, Vanderbilt football's leading receiver in 2025, will enter the transfer portal.

Richardson posted a graphic to his Instagram story Jan. 3 with the caption: "Gods plan, Love all my Vandy people but gotta do what's best for me and my son."

In 2025, Richardson made 46 catches for 806 yards and seven touchdowns. He also rushed 11 times for 62 yards. He led the Commodores in receiving yards and was tied for first in receiving touchdowns. He finished the season with 100-yard receiving games in three of his final four games, including in the ReliaQuest Bowl vs. Iowa.

Richardson transferred to Vanderbilt from Division II Washburn ahead of the 2025 season after starting his career at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He has a son who splits time between Kansas and being with Richardson after Richardson fought the child's mother for custody.

Richardson is the first starter to enter the portal for Vanderbilt since the portal window opened Jan. 2.

Receiver has long been an area where the Commodores have lacked depth. The starters performed well in 2025 as Vanderbilt finished 10-3, with Richardson, Junior Sherrill and Richie Hoskins at the forefront. But Hoskins is out of eligibility and tight end Eli Stowers declared for the NFL draft, leaving the cupboard relatively bare. Beyond the top three, no other wide receiver had more than 150 yards for the Commodores this season.
