Florida football's tight ends coach and offensive coordinator from this past season, Russ Callaway, is being targeted by the Tulane Green Wave to become their next offensive coordinator, according to 247Sports' Matt Zenitz.
Callaway has been a central figure on Florida's staff over the past four seasons. His rise within the program has been steady since arriving in 2022 as an off-the-field assistant before transitioning into an on-field role.
Callaway's influence was evident within the tight end room. In 2024, the group combined for 44 receptions, 444 yards and five touchdowns. In 2023, Callaway worked with young tight ends Arlis Boardingham and Hayden Hansen and continued to develop them as the years went on.
Before joining the Gators, Callaway built an extensive resume across college football and the NFL. He spent time with the New York Giants and LSU Tigers before a highly productive stint at Samford, where his offenses ranked among the top passing units in the FCS. During that stretch, he coached Walter Payton Award winner Devlin Hodges, who set the FCS career passing yards record.
Tulane's interest in Callaway reflects his reputation as a player developer, as well as his experience coordinating offenses at multiple levels. If the move materializes, it would mark another staff change for Florida following an offseason of transition under head coach Jon Sumrall.
