'Turns out Florida is not good': College football reacts as South Carolina stuns Gators

Two weeks ago, Jaden Baugh and Floridapicked up one of their biggest home wins in recent years, knocking off Trinidad Chambliss and Mississippi in Gainesville.
The victory thrust Jon Sumrall's squad into the conversation as a legitimate contender for the SEC title and, potentially, the College Football Playoff.
Two weeks later, the Gators' outlook has changed dramatically. After a road loss to Missouri last week,No. 15 Florida suffered a second consecutive conference defeat Saturday, falling 38-19 to South Carolina at The Swamp. As a result, a trip to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game now appears increasingly unlikely.
Tied 7-7 after the first quarter, the Gators were outscored by the Gamecocks 31-12 over the course of the final three quarters. Baugh struggled once again in Florida's offense, as the 6-foot-1 running back recorded just 59 rushing yards on 15 carries.
The loss for the Gators comes at a poor time, as the Gamecocks entered Saturday's matchup riding a three-game losing streak in SEC play and head coach Shane Beamer's sitting on a hot seat.
Given the unexpected outcome in Gainesville and how dominant a performance the Gamecocks showed, those on college football social media did not hold back — as all passionate fans do on Saturdays this time of the season — with their thoughts on the Gators dropping back-to-back losses:

Yeah, Florida isn’t what we thought they were.

Welcome to the club Florida fans….

Florida being out coached by a wide margin, out played by a wide margin and have zero energy. Man, Missouri just snatched Florida’s soul last week

Can’t cover, can’t tackle, can’t out scheme, can’t out physical. Absolutely an abysmal performance by Florida today. A complete embarrassment for homecoming game

Time to recalibrate a little.
Florida is horrible, so Missouri’s win takes a major hit in perception and Ole Miss’ blowout loss looks really, really bad.

Another week of us sleep walking and playing sloppy football 🤦♂️

Game is over.
South Carolina will lead 31-13 in The Swamp on Florida's homecoming.
Worse loss than at Mizzou. #Gators have completely imploded six games into Jon Sumrall's tenure.

I’m not out on Sumrall. I’ll assess the season as a whole.
But there are some troubling signs that I hope he corrects— JRosario (@jrosario521) October 10, 2026
Fans should absolutely be booing @CoachJonSumrall. This is exactly the stuff Billy Napier did. The exact same stuff. Minute and a half with 3 timeouts. This is embarrassing by Sumrall. There was plenty of time and least try for FG

Did Florida’s entire offense get figured out?
The last six quarters have been atrocious outside a couple plays.
