LSU football’s on-field product has been lacking this season, to say the least. The team currently sits at 6-4, leading to the dismissals of head coach Brian Kelly, offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, and athletic director Scott Woodward. The situation in Baton Rouge feels dire, but Rivals’ updated player rankings provide reason to be excited for the future.

One LSU commit was certain to be among the top players on the list: OL/DL commit Lamar Brown. Brown is Rivals' fifth-ranked player in the country, and his scouting summary reads like a dream.

“The rare prospect with five-star ability on either line of scrimmage. A true jumbo athlete. Measured in at around 6-foot-4, 285 pounds before his senior season. Has a plus length with arms around 34 inches… Elite athleticism and movement skills show up on both sides of the ball. Fires off the snap from his right tackle position. Flashes outstanding twitch in pass protection and working to the second level.”

According to 247Sports, Brown is more interested in playing defensive line at the next level, but he can hopefully be convinced to help improve the Tigers’ offensive line instead.

The other player who made the list is nose tackle Richard Anderson, who previously didn’t hold five-star status. Rivals’ updated rankings now have him listed as the 18th-ranked player in the country, however. Anderson’s scouting report, much like Brown’s, is a tantalizing read for Tigers fans.

“Explosive interior defensive lineman with immense power and ability to two-gap in the middle of the defensive front. Verified size at 6-foot-3.5, 355 pounds, with over 33-inch arms and carries the weight very well. Great burst off the line of scrimmage for his size.”

Here are a couple of clips of Anderson when he matched up against American Heritage this year:

LSU is graduating both starting defensive tackles after this season, and the Tigers have some talent behind them in Dominick McKinley and Ahmad Breaux. If Anderson can come in and make the impact Rivals believes he can, however, Tigers fans shouldn't be surprised to see him on the field early and often next year.
