Two more Ohio State football newcomers have shed their black stripes, and it came during Student Appreciation Day on Saturday.
Alabama defensive line transfer defensive tackle James Smith was announced "officially" as a Buckeye, a good sign because OSU will more than likely rely on him heavily on the defensive line this year because of his experience and need. He joins former Tide teammate, defensive end Qua Russaw, who shed his black stripe earlier this week. Smith tallied 16 tackles and 2.5 sacks last year for Alabama.

The other player who lost his black stripe on Saturday was also a transfer. Devin McCuin, the speedy wide receiver from UTSA has also shown that he fits the culture and work ethic of the program and was welcomed into the brotherhood. Last year in San Antonio, the Jacksonville, Florida native caught 65 passes for 726 yards (11.2 avg.) and eight touchdowns.
