Two Oregon standouts named to On3's True Freshman All-American team

Despite bringing in the third-ranked recruiting class in 2025, per 247 Sports, it’s hard to imagine that Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning envisioned as many true freshman impacting the team as they have thus far.

But, as Lanning has said ad nauseam, if a player is good enough, they’re old enough.

Despite their true freshman status, both wide receiver Dakorien Moore and cornerback Brandon Finney Jr. have certainly been good enough, so much so that they were both named to On3 Sports’ True Freshman All-American team.

Moore was included at the receiver position alongside Miami’s Malachi Toney and Michigan’s Andrew Marsh while Finney was joined by LSU’s DJ Pickett, Alabama’s Dijon Lee, Oklahoma’s Courtland Guillory and Pitt’s Shawn Lee Jr.

Despite missing the Ducks‘ last four games due to injury, Moore finished third on the team in receptions (28) and receiving yards (443) while scoring three touchdowns. There’s been little information regarding his status for the College Football Playoff, but Oregon would benefit greatly from having another playmaker on the outside, as Moore has revealed himself to be as a true freshman.

Meanwhile, Finney emerged as a lockdown corner and one of the most trusted players on defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi‘s defense as the season progressed. The 6-foot-2, 203 pounder has taken on the likes of USC’s Ja’Kobi Lane and Washington’s Denzel Boston, holding his own especially considering his lack of time at the collegiate level.

While both Moore and Finney’s impact has been felt with the 2025 edition of the Ducks, it will only continue to be felt more as the duo gets more experience under their belts in the coming seasons.
