Texas A&M’s offensive line has consistently been one of the best units in the country, and has helped pave the way for the Aggies to reach their first 8-0 start since 1992, and are coming off their first win in Baton Rouge since 1994 after defeating LSU 49-25 in Week 9. Before taking on No. 22 Missouri in Columbia on Saturday afternoon, the Aggies’ O-line deserves more recognition.
One of the primary reasons starting quarterback Marcel Reed has become a serious Heisman contender has been the blocking up front, which has surrendered just seven sacks this season, and has not given up a sack in five of eight games, including the last three SEC wins against Florida, Arkansas, and LSU. Size, athleticism, and extensive SEC experience have bolstered these elite performances and earned two of the offensive line’s starters impressive grades.
Per PFSN College Chief Analytics Officer Cam Mellor, Texas A&M right tackle Dametreous Crownover (89.2) and right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams (87.4) earned the fourth and ninth-highest in-season grades through eight games. Paired with starting left tackle Trey Zuhn, who currently holds the highest pass blocking grade (94.3) and has given up just one sack all season, Texas A&M’s offensive line will continue to be the reason the Aggies win games.
After facing Missouri, the Aggies’ final home games against South Carolina and Samford are the last matchups where they will be heavy favorites before facing Texas in Austin on Black Friday. Texas A&M star edge Cashius Howell, who leads the SEC with 9.5 sacks and over 30 pressures, will face Missouri tackle Keagan Trost, the top-rated SEC offensive lineman per PFSN College.
