Tennessee defensive back Ty Redmond was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week after his performance versus New Mexico State in Week 12.

The 6-foot-2, 192-pound cornerback totaled five tackles, one interception and one pass breakup in Tennessee’s, 42-9, win against the Aggies at Neyland Stadium.

Redmond leads all SEC freshmen in pass breakups (eight), interceptions (two) and passes defended (10).

In 10 games during the regular season, he has totaled 36 tackles, one tackle for a loss, two interceptions and eight pass breakups.

“Just continues to get better every single week,” Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said of Redmond. “That’s fundamentals and technique. It’s understanding what we’re doing schematically, more time on task against competition on the other side of the football, and just continues to raise his level of play.”

Kentucky quarterback Cutter Boley also earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors after Week 12.
