Tyler Perry’s ‘Beauty in Black’ returns this August with more power plays and family drama

Season 3 premieres Aug. 27 on Netflix, continuing Kimmie’s rise as buried secrets and revenge threaten the Bellarie family.
“Beauty in Black” Season 3 will premiere Aug. 27 on Netflix, five months after Season 2, Part 2 arrived on the streamer.
Netflix revealed the premiere date on July 28 alongside first-look photos from the new season. The streamer said the third season will test whether Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, can maintain the power she gained during the Season 2 finale.
Kimmie now has a seat at the Bellarie family table, but her position remains vulnerable. A deadly family feud will force her into an uneasy alliance with Mallory, played by Crystle Stewart, as blackmail, revenge and buried secrets threaten the family’s hair-care empire.
Season 2 ended with Kimmie calling a board meeting with Mallory by her side and her husband, Horace, joining them. The group turned several Bellarie family members over to the FBI over their business dealings, shifting control of the company and setting up another fight for power.
Williams said Kimmie will step fully into her authority with more support around her. Stewart said the tension and power struggles will deepen as the characters are pushed further and forced to face the consequences of their decisions.
Jules, the Bellarie family’s head of security and Kimmie’s former boss, will also continue searching for the truth about his son’s death, creating another possible threat to the family.
Williams and Stewart return alongside Amber Reign Smith, Xavier Smalls, Ricco Ross, Julian Horton, Steven G. Norfleet, Richard Lawson, Terrell Carter, Bryan Tanaka, Charles Malik Whitfield and Debbi Morgan. Perry remains the show’s creator, writer, director and executive producer.
“Beauty in Black” Season 3 was previously announced as the show’s last chapter, but Netflix renewed the series for a fourth season on July 23. Perry said there was more of the Bellarie family’s story he wanted to tell and thanked viewers for supporting the series worldwide.
The first two seasons are streaming on Netflix before the Bellaries return Aug. 27.
