A U.S. judge issued on Wednesday a big ruling in a lawsuit involving the Rose Bowl.
UCLA is reportedly attempting to get out of its lease with the iconic college football stadium. The Bruins are reportedly seeking to move from the Rose Bowl to SoFi Stadium, home to the Rams and Chargers. The Bruins have a lease with the Rose Bowl until 2044, but they've had poor attendance in recent seasons.
The Big Ten program appears to believe that SoFi Stadium would be a better landing spot for its football program moving forward.
According to Ben Bolch of the Los Angeles Times, a judge on Wednesday denied a request for a temporary restraining order from the Rose Bowl to UCLA.
"The judge found that there was no basis for emergency relief, because UCLA (after its November 22 home finale) isn’t due to host another game until the 2026 season," Pro Football Talk wrote.
"The judge also suggested that the City of Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Operating Company seek information from UCLA regarding any discussions with SoFi Stadium regarding a move. A motion for a preliminary injunction could then be filed before the 2026 season begins."
UCLA denies the reports
UCLA continues to maintain that no decision has been made on its future football stadium locations.
“As we have said, while we continue to evaluate the long-term arrangement for UCLA football home games, no decision has been made," a spokesperson for the Bruins said on Wednesday.
UCLA is 3-6 on the season.
The Bruins are scheduled to take on No. 1 Ohio State at 7:30 p.m. E.T. on Saturday.
