On Wednesday the UCLA Bruins and the rest of the Big Ten Conference announced who will be representing the schools at the Big Ten Media Day, which is set to be held in Chicago, Illinois on July 29th.

First year head coach Bob Chesney will be in attendance along with three players, safety Cole Martin, linebacker Sammy Omosigho and quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Both Iamaleava and Martin are returnees for the Bruins while Omosigho transferred in from Oklahoma.

Martin entered the transfer portal early in the offseason, but the Pasadena native opted to stay with the Bruins for his redshirt junior season. Martin has played one season with UCLA, having previously played for both Oregon and Arizona State.

Iamaleava is another Bruin who transferred in from another school. After two seasons with Tennessee, the former five-star recruit shocked the college football world by entering the portal, and eventually landing with UCLA. The 6’6” quarterback has the mobility and skill to lead a strong Bruin offense but needs to back up his natural abilities with down-to-down consistency.

Omosigho was a four-star recruit and transfer, playing three seasons with the Sooners before heading west to join UCLA. In his Sooners career, Omosigho made 96 total tackles with two sacks and four pass break-ups.

Chesney chose three leaders to accompany him on the trip to Chicago. While Omosigho is a new Bruin, he provides the defense with three years of SEC experience, while Iamaleava enters his second season as UCLA’s starting quarterback and Martin having the hometown equity.
