The UCLA Bruins have revamped their offensive line under new head coach Bob Chesney this offseason but the Bruins got some good news on Wednesday with college football reporter Pete Nakos reporting that offensive tackle Jordan Davis receiving an extra year of eligibility for the 2026 season.

Davis is a big body for the Bruins to throw on their offensive line, standing at 6’5” and weighing 305 lbs. Davis began his college career with the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2021, spending two years with the Gamecocks before transferring to South Alabama in 2023, where he went on to start 30 games for the Jaguars.

It’ll be interesting to see if UCLA will give Davis much of a chance to earn a starting spot after not seeing game action during the 2025 season. The Bruins have filled their offensive line with new transfers, with Riley Robell, Carter Sweazie and Hall Schmidt all joining UCLA this offseason.

Despite the new faces on the line, UCLA will have a familiar one at quarterback with Nico Iamaleava readying for his second season as the starting quarterback in Westwood. This time around Iamaleava will have a full offseason, a fresh new coaching staff and hopefully some better offensive line play.

UCLA’s lack of consistent pass protection wrecked their offensive productivity, as Iamaleava was constantly facing pressure and being forced to escape the pocket with his legs. Davis had a lot of success when on the field with South Alabama, earning All-Conference honors in the Sun Belt with the Jaguars in 2024.

Davis could very well be protecting Iamaleava’s blind side this season, but at the very least the Bruins will have some added depth with Davis being granted eligibility for the 2026 campaign.
