BUIES CREEK — Off to its first 2-0 start since 2018, Campbell will face its biggest test of the young season Saturday when the Camels travel to Gainesville to take on Florida.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
Campbell enters the game after a 28-19 victory over No. 24 Western Carolina in its home opener Sunday at Barker-Lane Stadium. The Camels piled up 528 yards of total offense while limiting the Catamounts to just one rushing yard.
The victory gave Campbell its second win over an FCS top-25 opponent and its first 2-0 start since 2018. Western Carolina's one rushing yard was the fewest Campbell has allowed against a nonconference opponent and the second-lowest total allowed in program history. The Camels also held Western Carolina to two conversions on 13 third-down attempts.
Saturday's game will mark another milestone for Campbell. Florida will be the Camels' first opponent from the Southeastern Conference and the fourth Power Four opponent they have faced.
Campbell is 0-14 against FBS opponents. The Camels have faced seven different in-state FBS programs and have held a lead in six of their 14 games against FBS competition.
Campbell's offense has been among the most productive in the FCS through the first two games. The Camels rank fourth nationally in passing offense at 336.5 yards per game and eighth in total offense at 521 yards per game.
Quarterback Kamden Sixkiller has led the way, ranking among the FCS top 10 in five statistical categories. Sixkiller is second nationally with 29 completions per game, third in total offense at 393.5 yards per game and fourth with 673 passing yards. He also has three rushing touchdowns and was named the FCS national offensive player of the week following Campbell's season-opening victory at East Tennessee State.
Spencer Jones leads the Camels with 11 receptions and 175 receiving yards.
Campbell's defense is coming off a strong performance against Western Carolina. Linebacker AJ Benton was named the CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high eight tackles, including a sack, and a pass breakup.
Benton helped the Camels force three-and-outs on Western Carolina's first two possessions as Campbell built a 21-3 second-quarter lead. Campbell finished with seven tackles for loss.
Charles Battaglia leads Campbell with 17 tackles through two games, while Justin Garza has two tackles for loss.
Campbell is also receiving votes in both FCS top-25 polls for the second consecutive week. The Camels have never been ranked in the FCS top 25.
Following Saturday's trip to Florida, Campbell will open CAA play Sept. 19 against North Carolina A&T at Barker-Lane Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
