Michael Malone and his coaching staff are putting together the roster for his first season as head coach with North Carolina. He has an impressive transfer portal and recruiting class coming in but there's room to add more.
Now, it sounds like the Tar Heels have their eyes set on a four-star recruit in the 2026 class.
Inside Carolina's Sherrell McMillan reported on Monday that the program is getting set to host Thomas on an upcoming visit. Thomas is a former LSU commit who decommitted back in April.
The talented forward out of Florida has reopened his recruitment and has a connection to North Carolina as his agent is former Tar Heel K.J. Smith.
The 6-foot-6, 195-pound Thomas has a total of 13 offers in his recruitment and took four visits. That included LSU, Florida State, Miami, and Auburn. With the Tar Heels needing some help on the wing, pursuing Thomas makes a lot of sense.
He's ranked No. 79 nationally, the No. 32 small forward, and No. 13 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
