The North Carolina Tar Heels come out of the bye week at 2-1 overall but suffered a disappointing loss to Clemson the last time they were on the field. As Bill Belichick and his team look to bounce back, they have a tough test as they host Notre Dame in Week 5.
But they also have another battle in terms of recruiting that could be picking up.
As part of North Carolina's 2027 recruiting class, four-star edge rusher Brayen Booth committed to UNC back in June of 2026. He's North Carolina's second-hightest ranked recruit in the class as UNC had to fight off Baylor and Kansas State to land him. However, one of those teams is making a strong push in the recruitment still.
Sam Spiegelman of Rivals wrote on some recruitments that could be reopened in college football, including Booth who is getting interest from Baylor still. Here is what Spiegelman wrote on the situation:
Intel: Both Baylor and Kansas State were trending with four-star EDGE Brayden Booth before he committed to North Carolina after his official visit to Chapel Hill. The Bears have continued to recruit Booth, who has been receptive to the Baylor staff and is expected to be in Waco later this fall. Sources close to this recruitment believe Booth would prefer to play closer to home.
Booth is from San Antonio, Texas and that last line from Spiegelman is what is keeping Baylor in this race despite him being committed elsewhere. Baylor continues to make a push to land him whch would be a big loss for UNC's class.
However, Spiegelman does say he remains neutral on where this recruitment stands, so don't panic just yet.
