UNC football releases availability report for Clemson game

The North Carolina Tar Heels are preparing for their first Atlantic Coast Conference game of the season on Saturday as they travel to Clemson to face off against the Tigers. UNC is 2-0 on the season after they beat TCU in Ireland and then ETSU at home in Week 2.

But now the schedule gets tougher.

Ahead of Saturday's game against Clemson, the Tar Heels released their availability report as per ACC procedure and there was some bad news. Inside Carolina reported on Wednesday that a few UNC football players were involved in a traffic stop that resulted in a gun charge and a speeding ticket.

According to police reports, Keeyun Chapman was arrested on Tuesday night on a misdemeanor gun charge, while fellow freshman wide receiver C.J. Sadler was charged with driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. Both are now listed as OUT for the game.

Here is a statement UNC provided to Inside Carolina:

“We are aware of the incident involving UNC football student-athletes Tuesday night in Chapel Hill. We are cooperating fully with the University and local officials, and will have no further comment while gathering additional information.”

With both listed as OUT for Saturday's game, the Tar Heels will be down at least two players. And potentially more.

While Sadler and Chapman are both ruled out, UNC could be getting some good news. Per Pete Thamel, UNC star defensive end Melkart Abou Jaoude is questionable for the game at Clemson.

Abou Jaoude was hurt in the win over TCU and did not play against ETSU. If he does return, it will help boost the Tar Heels' pass rush. Going up against a freshman quarterback, UNC could really use that added boost.

The two teams will kick off the game at noon on Saturday.
