The 2027 recruiting cycle still has a few months to go until the December signing period, but it feels like a majority of the top classes in the nation are set. Just two senior blue-chippers — according to the Rivals Industry Ranking — remain uncommitted, as of Sept. 8.

Things always move quick in the summer during official visit season, but this cycle has moved at a fervent pace since the beginning of the spring. While coaching changes, changes of heart and other factors will lead to some flips down the stretch, for the most part, top recruits look locked into their respective pledges.

The Big Ten enters this fall still on top of the college football world. On the recruiting front, many of the top programs in the conference continue to make a splash or two throughout the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Of the nation’s top 25 classes, eight are in the Big Ten. That includes two of the top 10, with Oregon leading the way at No. 4 nationally. Rivals is taking a look at the updated Big Ten class rankings, now that football is finally back:

1. Oregon — 92.739

Top Commit: WR Dakota Guerrant, No. 21 NATL. (No. 5 WR)

The latest four-star to come off the board was LB Brayton Feister and he locked in a pledge to Oregon on Aug. 14. Feister is the nation’s No. 10 LB. To no surprise, Dan Lanning has gone across the country to land blue-chippers this cycle. Guerrant and four-star WR Xavier Sabb are both top-10 receivers. Will Mencl remains Rivals’ No. 1 QB, while industry No. 7 CB Hayden Stepp headlines a top-notch DB haul. There’s eight top-100 commits set to head to Eugene next year.

2. Ohio State — 92.186

Top Commit: EDGE David Jacobs, No. 3 NATL. (No. 1 EDGE)

After a rather quiet spring, Ohio State closed out official visit season strong by landing a pair of industry top-50 recruits in five-star DL Marcus Fakatou and four-star IOL Caden Moss. Four-star DL Karlos May is the newest blue-chip pledge. The Buckeyes’ lone five-star in the Rivals300 is Jacobs, but four-star IOL Kellen Wymer is on the cusp. Four-star EDGE Wyatt Smith is another future Buckeye on the rise. While not currently in contention for the No. 1 class, it’s another rock-solid group for Ryan Day.

3. Michigan — 90.899

Top Commit: OT Jakari Lipsey, No. 97 NATL. (No. 8 OT)

The Kyle Whittingham era has seen Michigan continue to excel on the recruiting trail. The month of May was crucial for the Wolverines as they landed eight blue-chip commitments, headlined by Lipsey, top-100 WR Quentin Burrell, No. 9 DL Xavier Muhammad and No. 9 safety Tavares Harrington. U-M has done well with usual Midwest targets, but it has also expanded its horizons across the country and could easily finish inside the top 10 when signing day rolls around.

4. USC — 90.850

Top Commit: ATH Honor Fa’alave-Johnson, No. 12 NATL. (No. 1 ATH)

Lincoln Riley and the Trojans are purposefully taking a small class this cycle, but it’s still a mighty group filled with blue-chippers. Fa’alave-Johnson is a Swiss-Army knife prospect who can play all over the field, while five-star EDGE Mekai Brown is one of the best set to come out of the Northeast in some time. There’s five top-100 prospects in the class. Four-stars Quentin Hale and Roye Oliver form one of the better WR duos in the country.

5. UCLA — 89.933

Top Commit: CB Juju Johnson, No. 38 NATL. (No. 6 CB)

It hasn’t taken long for new head coach Bob Chesney to turn the vibes upside down in Westwood. There’s some renewed vigor for UCLA and it has built a notable class filled with eight top-300 prospects. Johnson, four-star CB Jerry Outhouse Jr., four-star safety Pole Moala, four-star safety Myles Baker and four-star safety Khalil Terry compile one of the nation’s best defensive back hauls. Outhouse, Baker and Terry all flipped from other programs to join the Bruins.
