US LBM Coaches Poll released after Georgia's win at Mississippi State

The Georgia Bulldogs have maintained their No. 5 ranking in the US LBM Coaches Poll after earning a strong 41-21 road win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Georgia put together one of their more complete performances of their season to topple Mississippi State.

The top-10 had just one team lose (previous No. 8 BYU) in Week 11. A couple of ACC contenders suffered surprising defeats in Week 11 with both Virginia and Louisville falling to conference foes. No top-five team lost again, but Indiana needed a last-second toe-tap touchdown to prevail over Penn State.

With three weeks left in the regular season, college football has a pretty well established pecking order. Last week’s College Football Playoff rankings agreed entirely with the top-five of the Coaches Poll and we’d be surprised if there’s any difference against this week.

Georgia is now 8-1 including 6-1 in the SEC. Next up for Georgia is a home game against the No. 10 Texas Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 15. Georgia also has a major test during Rivalry Week against No. 12 Georgia Tech. For now, Georgia will enjoy beating Mississippi State.

“I’m proud of our guys,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said after the Mississippi State game. “I thought that was a total team effort, really tough place to play.”
