It’s been a busy week in girls flag football!
As the school year comes to a close, state tournaments across the country are shaking up the rankings – including in Florida, whose championships last weekend rearranged a decent amount of the Top 10.
Some newcomers this week include Mt. Juliet in Tennessee, who gave Ravenwood an impressive run for their money in the 2A state title game, and Nordonia, who joins the watch list after picking up the inaugural Ohio state championship.
Super 25 flag football selection process
In partnership with the NFL, the teams are determined by a USA TODAY Network selection committee of editors and writers in the participating, officially sanctioned states—Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington—and the USA TODAY High School Sports staff.
The process considers factors ranging from last year’s results, carryover into this season, and a primary focus on 2026 records and overall performance. A team’s state ranking influences its national placement, a process that allows editorial expertise and objectivity to blend with the ever-present subjectivity.
