We are now in the month of November, which means that discussions about the College Football Playoff are beginning to take place. On Tuesday, the playoff selection committee released its first rankings of the 2025 season. USC made the top 25, coming in at No. 19.
Given the Trojans‘ resume, this ranking feels about right. USC is currently 6-2, including a 4-1 mark in Big Ten play. The Trojans hold a 1-1 record against other teams currently in the committee’s top 25, with a victory over No. 21 Michigan and a loss to No. 21 Notre Dame.
USC is the fourth-highest-ranked team in the Big Ten. Ahead of the Trojans are No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Indiana, and No. 10 Oregon. Also in the top 25 are No. 20 Iowa, the aforementioned No. 20 Wolverines, No. 21 Iowa, and No. 23 Washington.
Two of the Trojans’ final four games of the regular season are against ranked opponents, with the Hawkeyes coming to the Coliseum on November 15 and a trip to Eugene on November 22. Winning both of those games will be a challenge, but if USC can find a way to do so and also take care of business against Northwestern and UCLA, the Trojans will very likely make the playoff.
