USC linebacker Eric Gentry discusses his career in Cardinal and Gold

This past weekend marked the final home game at the Coliseum for USC's 2025 senior class. While this year's team is a fairly young one, it does still feature several seniors who have made notable contributions to the USC football program over the past few years.

One of those players is redshirt senior linebacker Eric Gentry. Gentry arrived as a transfer from Arizona State in 2022, head coach Lincoln Riley's first season. Over the past four years, he has played a massive role on USC's defense, and is now one of the few players remaining from Riley's first team that went 11-1 in the regular season and advanced to the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Following his final game at the Coliseum Saturday night, Gentry discussed his career in Cardinal and Gold, and how this year's USC team compares to the 2022 group.

"[This year's team is] tougher, more resilient, no ego," Gentry said. "Everybody listens to each other. The coaches listen to the players. Players listen to the coaches. And being able to handle adversity more than anything. People having their head right whenever stuff doesn’t go right, and whenever stuff does go right."

As for his favorite memory from his time at USC?

"I think my moment, I guess everybody probably knows, is me hopping on my one leg now [coming out of the injury tent on one leg versus Utah in 2022 to pump up the team]," Gentry said. "I would say that moment, though, and it’s not just because of it being big or the fame. I just genuinely wanted to win that game. And I was doing that in practice, helping and yelling and different stuff like that, to get the team right as a sophomore in practice."

While Gentry and the rest of USC's seniors have played their final game in the Coliseum, they will still have one more opportunity to suit up for the Trojans in USC's bowl game. We should find out the Trojans' bowl destination and opponent on Sunday.
