Emotions reached a peak when Oregon star quarterback Dante Moore was carted into an ambulance after taking a huge hit to the head in Saturday’s game versus USC, and they carried over during a tense postgame exchange. Ducks and Trojans players got into a scrum while walking through the tunnel in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, per The Athletic’s Ira Gorawara. Staff members prevented a full-blown melee from breaking out, but it is clear that tempers are still high after this Big Ten face-off.
Despite losing Moore early the second quarter, Oregon composed itself and delivered a statement-making 41-27 victory on the road. Backup QB and Nebraska transfer Dylan Raiola was 19-of-25 passing for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Jamari Johnson and Dierre Hill Jr. combined for a whopping 224 receiving yards, exploiting a USC defense that continues to melt in big games.
The Ducks save their season, while the Lincoln Riley-led Trojans remain mired in scrutiny. Oregon has now won the last five meetings between the two teams, taking control of a rivalry that began in 1915. This was about more than just Pacific Coast animosity or high-stakes football, though.

Dante Moore broke free for a 10-yard rush, and while beginning to slide, USC’s Desman Stephens II barrelled into him. Before being ejected for targeting, the junior linebacker was smiling and acting rather nonchalant on the sidelines. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and his players took immediate exception to the hit. Their intensity translated to the game itself.
Thankfully, Moore was able to move his extremities and is recovering in the hospital. His team fought valiantly on his behalf and devastated a USC fan base that is tired of witnessing the same prime-time flops. The Trojans are surely sick of it as well, or at least they better be.
All of these conflicted feelings came to a boil in the tunnel. Everyone will need to decompress after a mentally-draining evening in LA.
