USC QB commit Trey Wright erupts for six touchdowns, Lone Star (Texas) improves to 2-0

Lone Star (Texas) football improved to 2-0 on Thursday night, yachting past Simon Gratz (Pa.), which made the long trip from Philadelphia to Frisco. The Rangers leaned on their star quarterback, junior three-star Trey Wright, in the 48-24 victory.
The 5-foot-9, 175-pounder erupted for six touchdowns, three through the air and three on the ground. He and senior three-star wide receiver Zach Forbish connected on all three of the passing scores, all of which went for more than 30 yards.

The USC commit opened the scoring with a 10-yard rushing score, then quickly followed that with his first TD throw to Forbish, a Michigan State pledge. Their second connection went for 65 yards at the end of the opening quarter. It was 21-0 early, and while Gratz made it a one-score game at halftime, the Rangers would begin to cruise as the game grew long.
In Lone Star’s first game of the season, Wright finished with 327 total yards in a 41-26 road victory over Royse City. He completed nine passes for 178 yards and two scores while adding 149 rushing yards and another touchdown on just nine carries.
Wright broke out in a massive way as a sophomore last fall, guiding the Rangers to a Class 5A-I state title berth. Completing 67 percent of his passes, he threw for 4,042 yards and 38 touchdowns, averaging 252 yards per game. He also rushed for 110 yards per game, going for 1,764 yards and 16 scores.
Wright is the No. 426 overall prospect and No. 29 QB in the 2028 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 54 junior in Texas.
Now 2-0, Lone Star now gets back on the road for a pair of challenging matchups. Next Friday, it heads to Cedar Hill, which recently lost No. 1 overall prospect Jalen Brewster to Buford (Ga.). The Rangers then take on Melissa, which enters this week as the No. 20 team in Texas.
