It was an incredible regular season for USC wide receiver Makai Lemon. He earned first team All-American honors, and last week won the Biletnikoff Award as the top pass catcher in all of college football. This week, Lemon took home yet another honor when he was named the Polynesian College Football Co-Player of the Year.
Lemon shared the award with Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano. Lemon becomes the third Trojan to win the award, which has been presented annually since 2014 to the top college football player of Polynesian descent in the country. Safety Talanoa Hufanga shared the honor with BYU quarterback Zach Wilson in 2020, and defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu won it in 2022.
Lemon finished the regular season with 79 receptions for 1,156 yards and 11 touchdowns. His receiving yards were the most among any Power Four player, and he also added two touchdowns on the ground.
USC quarterback Jayden Maiava was also a finalist for the award. With Maiava set to return to USC in 2026, he should be one of the way-too-early favorites to take home the honor next season.
