Over the weekend, USC’s transfer portal exodus continued. After seeing nine players announce their intentions to enter the portal last week, the Trojans saw two more departures: offensive lineman Micah Banuelos and linebacker Garrison Madden.

Banuelos arrived at USC as a true freshman in the Trojans’ 2023 recruiting class. After seeing limited playing time in his first two years on campus, he made five starts as a redshirt sophomore this season.

Madden was part of head coach Lincoln Riley’s first USC recruiting class in 2022 and spent four years in Cardinal and Gold. He primarily saw playing time on special teams with the Trojans, and finished his USC career with 11 total tackles.

The Trojans have now seen 11 players announce their intentions to enter the transfer portal in the past week. That number will likely continue to grow in the coming weeks as more players continue to look elsewhere in search of more playing time.

The NCAA transfer portal will officially be open from January 2-16. However, due to restrictions caused by the academic calendar and the reality that pretty much everyone tampers nowadays, expect plenty of players to announce their intentions to enter the portal before then so that they can begin to look towards finding their new schools.
