For the previous matchup played in September 2022, Utah paid Southern Utah a guarantee of $600,000, according to the Salt Lake Tribune

Utah Football 2027 Non-conference Schedule

Aug. 26 – vs. Southern Utah

Sept. 4 – vs. Miami (Las Vegas, Nev./Vegas Kickoff Classic)

Sept. 11 – vs. Wyoming

With the ACC and SEC moving to nine-game conference schedules, Miami athletic director Dan Radakovich previously said the Canes are moving ahead with the 2027 opener vs. Utah at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas. It was one of the non-conference games not canceled or amended.

Miami and Utah are scheduled to meet for the first time in the Vegas Kickoff Classic over Labor Day weekend 2027. The first-ever meeting between both teams.

“This is a tremendous showcase for our football program and our university to open the 2027 season on a national stage in the Vegas Kickoff Classic, Utah athletic director Mark Harlan said. "We are excited for this opportunity to match up against the Miami Hurricanes, and we extend our thanks to the Las Vegas Bowl and ESPN Events for the invitation. It is a testament to our program and our great fans to participate in this type of event, and when the time comes, we will paint Allegiant Stadium red once again.”

The Utes won last year's Las Vegas Bowl against Nebraska. Morgan Scalley's head coaching debut resulted in a successful trip to Sin City. He hasn't lost since and is the first Utah coach to start with a 5-0 record in 40 years.

As for Wyoming, the old front range foe comes to Salt Lake City for the latest edition of a series dating back to 1904. Utah owns a 50-31-1 advantage. The last game came last year in Laramie with the Utes beating the Pokes 31-6 for a fifth consecutive win over the past 20 years.
