Utah football uniform combo revealed for Week 1 vs Arkansas

The 20th-ranked Utah Utes are days away from their first-ever meeting with the Arkansas Razorbacks in Salt Lake City. After beating Idaho 66-14 last week, Morgan Scalley's team has to feel good about the start to the season.

Their Week 2 opponent brings a real challenge on Saturday night. The Utes will be decked out in all red uniforms for the primetime affair. This will be the same traditional look for a second straight game at home. Mostly due to this game being a "red out" event for Utah fans. No word yet on what combination Arkansas will wear. The Hogs' traditional away uniforms are white with crimson red trim.

Arkansas started the season off with a 31-14 win over North Alabama for coach Ryan Silverfield's debut last Saturday. Utah will have a test with Arkansas coming to town. Two teams with a first-year head coach and very different projections coming into the season. The Utes started the season ranked in the AP Top 25 poll under Scalley. Meanwhile, Silverfield is trying to get his feet set in Fayetteville. This is no doubt a rare meeting for both schools.

This will be the furthest west Arkansas has traveled for a game in 26 years, including the regular season and postseason. The Hogs lost to UNLV in the 2000 Las Vegas Bowl.

One of the biggest topics before this week was the late start time for Arkansas. They'll be facing a 10:15 p.m. ET kickoff at Rice-Eccles Stadium, which was a sore subject for Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek. He took to social media earlier this year and aired out his frustrations. His biggest point was the turnaround time of going from a late Saturday game to a noon kickoff with No. 2 Georgia the following week. Utah enjoys the nighttime atmosphere high in the Rockies.

Nevertheless, the Hogs and Utes get the late ESPN timeslot. This is the first half of a home-and-home agreement, with the Utes returning the favor with a trip to Fayetteville next year.

Utes legend Eric Weddle will be inducted into Utah’s Ring of Honor during a ceremony at halftime on Saturday night. Weddle was known as a solid defender during his football career. He was a star in Utah's secondary during the mid-2000s, earning back-to-back Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honors starting in 2005.

This came right after Weddle helped boost the Utes into the national spotlight as part of the undefeated 12-0 team under Urban Meyer in 2004. Utah finished the season No. 4 in the final AP Poll, which gave the program its first BCS bowl appearance.

Weddle will be the fourth inductee into Utah Football's Ring of Honor since 2024.
