The (2-0) Vanderbilt Commodores host the (1-1) North Carolina State Wolfpack at FirstBank Stadium for Week 3. One interesting headline to monitor heading into Saturday’s game is the ongoing quarterback controversy, especially with what transpired last week against Delaware. For context, Blaze Berlowitz was named the starting quarterback after competing with Jared Curtis throughout the spring and fall.
Berlowitz struggled against the Fightin’ Blue Hens, and Curtis replaced him on the third drive of the first quarter, playing the next four drives before the redshirt junior took over for the final three drives of the first half. The five-star freshman played the entire second half and completed 14 of 22 pass attempts for 210 yards and one touchdown, along with one rushing yard and two touchdowns in their 35-26 victory.
With Vanderbilt playing their first Power Four opponent, Clark Lea needs to figure out who the starting quarterback will be moving forward, as SEC play follows NC State.

During Tuesday’s press conference, Clark Lea announced that Jared Curtis is expected to make his first career start against NC State, as reported by Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. Curtis has been taking first-team reps to open the week. In addition, Blaze Berlowitz may play and rotate on Saturday.
