Vanderbilt football lands Jayvontay Conner, East Carolina tight end transfer

Former East Carolina tight end Jayvontay Conner committed to Vanderbilt football on Jan. 4 per his social media.
Conner acknowledged On3Sports' Hayes Fawcett's social card on X announcing his commitment stating, "Let's work (anchor emoji)."

No. 12-ranked Vanderbilt will be Conner's third school in four years. Conner, who was a redshirt sophomore during the 2025 season, had 23 catches for 333 yards and three touchdowns this past season for East Carolina. In 2024 he played in nine games and caught one pass for a two-yard touchdown against Florida Atlantic. He caught one pass for seven yards in three games played for Ole Miss in 2023.
Vanderbilt finished the 2025 season 10-3, falling to Iowa 34-27 in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31.
Vanderbilt tight end Cole Spence has announced he plans to return. The 6-foot-7, 255-pound Spence caught 13 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns in 2025. He also has played a significant role in the blocking game.
